Date: 31st March

Buddies: Hoody

Meaning: Noisy hill

Height: 987 metres

Time: 5.5 hrs

Climbed with the Hoodmeister on a great spring day which was hot in the glen and chillsome up top. Cycled in and out which made it a much easier ascent. Got to the actual top this time (eh Lozza!) and enjoyed a quick descent off the S side and back along the valley to the bikes. Great!

Buddies: Ali

Meaning: Bald red head

Height: 933 metres

Time: 5.5 hrs

Climbed with Ali on a day with a mixed bag of weather- many showers, then periods of bright sun, then blizzards! Good path for walk in and some nice clean snow to forge fresh tracks up. Snow very soft- lots of windslab- and slippy, but good fun glissading down! brilliant views at times and great to be out again with Ali. Bring on the sunshine.

Buddies: Ali

Meaning: Rocky peak of the pedlars

Height: 915 metres

Time: 6.0 hrs

Moruisg & Sgurr nan Ceannaichean. Climbed with Ali on a day of generally better weather than forecast. steep but steady ascent to the first hill, then a great switchback ridge upon which we encountered deep, soft snow (i sank up to my chest at one point!) and a complete whiteout which was alarming due to the proximity of the particularly steep corrie to our right. Still it didn't last too long and with care we got to a good spot. 2nd summit gave great views of the other munros around Loch monar that I'll have to do and a very pointy mountain (don't know if it's a munro, but it looks great to the SW.

Buddies: Ali part-way

Meaning: Finlay's hill

Height: 959 metres

Time: 4.0 hrs

Climbed with Ali up to end of forestry track, then solo on another beautiful day in spring. Felt strong and had more fantastic 'mountain' experiences which were just a joy rather than scary as. another fantastic summit ridge which definately had an alpine air about it. More weather like this and my quest will be sorted. Still, it'll be good when Ali can share these times with me...

Date: 15th March

Buddies: solo

Meaning: Peak of the goats

Height: 1090 metres

Time: 6.0 hrs

Stob a' Choire Odhair & Stob Ghabhar, climbed the first with Ali (woohoo!) and the second solo on a beautiful crisp spring day with brilliant snow, steep slopes and 360 degree views. What a stonker! I've missed days like this and it did me good to bask in the great weather. Felt more than a hillwalk- needing crampons and ice axe- but still benign enough to enjoy rather than brick it! Brilliant ridge and a great day out. Fab.

Date: 8th March

Buddies: Ice Ice Baby

Meaning: Rocky peak of the hillock

Height: 963 metres

Time: 7.5 hrs

Sgurr nan Coireachan & Sgurr Thuilm. Climbed with Brother Ice on a windy, hail ridden bugger of a day. Wow, these were hard! steep slopes, knobbly ridges, slippy conditions, soft wet snow, high winds (gusting 70mph) and sandblasting hail conspired to make this one of the epic climbs so far. We were glad of every single peice of kit we had- especially ski goggle without which getting off safely would have been pretty difficult. Glad to get back. Nice view from Loch Morar to Loch Arkaig though!
