March 2007 - 6 Munros climbed

  Ben Challum
    Ben Challum

Date: 25th March

Buddies: Ali & Jason to the top, Jill & Izzie part-way

Meaning: Malcolm's hill

Height: 1025 metres

Time: 5 hrs

Set out climbing with Jill, Jason, Izzie & Ali. Fantastic day- weather brilliant and the chat even better. Iz and Jill decided to go back early, but Jas, Ali and I summitted with a guy who had a heart attack last month! Fluffy cartoon-esque clouds and beautiful views, after a cagy start, March is begining to play ball with the weather. Nice chippy in Tyndrum afterwards- Real Food Cafe.

    Creag Mhor (Loch Lochay)

Date: 24th March

Buddies: Ali

Meaning: Big crag

Height: 1047 metres

Time: 7.5 hrs

Beinn Heasgarnich and Creag Mhor [Loch Lochay] Climbed these two hills in this order with Ali on a fine spring day- loads of sunshine, not much wind and remnants of snow. Found the descent from Beinn Heasgarnich very steep and tough on the old knees, and the final walk out was quite long, but a great day spent in the hills with Ali.

    Carn Liath

Date: 3rd March

Buddies: Ali

Meaning: Grey peak (Hill of the mist)

Height: 975 metres

Time: 7.3 hrs

Carn Liath, Braigh Coire Chruinn-Bhalgain & Carn nan Gabhar. Climbed with Ali today, steep to begin with and the first summit was clagged out, but when the cloud lifted it was magnificent. What a day to forget the camera!?! Turned darn windy on Carn nan Gabhar, though the summit was truly breathtaking what with sun, spindrift, wind and views. Long slog of a walk out but a truly enjoyable day- only made better by the fact that I bumped into 3 former work mates on the summit of Braigh Coire Chruinn-Bhalgain, which was strange, but good.
